Live video stream

Today LEARN is proud to provide a live video stream of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s conversation with students from McGill University’s Faculty of Education, as well as students from Concordia, Bishop’s, UQAM, U de Montreal, and U de Laval. The subject of today’s discussion: Education, Ethics and Religion in Today’s World.

Schedule and resumption of LEARN’s regular services
The Dalai Lama and his entourage are expected to arrive at 9:15 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. the Principal of McGill will introduce him. His talk will run until approximately 10:30 a.m., followed by a period of questions and answers. Due to the importance of this event, the LEARN web site will be closed to regular traffic on Oct. 3rd, and only broadcast His Holiness’s address and his conversation with those student teachers in attendance. All regular services will resume no later than October 4th.

To ensure the best possible viewing experience, we are providing video streams using Microsoft’s Silverlight technologies, a streaming solution used on web sites such as CBC and RDI. This software is free and works well on both Macs and PCs. Download, install and test your Silverlight player here.

Resources and program connections
ercOnce the presentation and following question period ends, the regular LEARN web site will reopen. Related resources and additional information will be available in the Ethics and Religious Culture program section of our Curriculum area. These resources will include a podcast of today’s video stream, available in several forms for download shortly after the event. You will be able to view photos, multi-media and various other documents related to the event. LEARN will also post biographical notes on the Dalai Lama, selections of his writings, and a list of books authored by His Holiness. In this way and others, a meaningful place to share important experiences in the area of ethics and religious education will form, a place where we can all continue the conversation.
